The ATLAS project took part in the Atlantic-WestMED Stakeholder Conference 2026, held on 15 -16 September in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. The event marked the first time the Atlantic and Western Mediterranean Sea basin strategies came together in a single forum, bringing policymakers, researchers, project leaders and blue economy stakeholders together to explore new collaborations between the two regions.

On World Whale Day, the ATLAS project is launching its website where you can learn more about the project and the technology it is developing. You can also sign up to the project’s newsletter to be kept informed about all the project’s news, events and research.

Maritime traffic, the presence of large cetaceans and seismic risk made the Canary Islands an ideal laboratory to validate ATLAS and showcase the potential of its technology for strengthening Atlantic observation and protection.
